WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY IN DEUTERONOMY?

Deuteronomy: The Loving Law

The Law is Loving If you obey the commandments of the Lord your God that I command you today, by loving the Lord your God, by walking in his ways, and by keeping his commandments and his statutes and his rules, then you shall live and multiply, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land that you are entering to take possession of it. (Deuteronomy 30:16)

The Law Serves to Protect But if your heart turns away, and you will not hear, but are drawn away to worship other gods and serve them, 18 I declare to you today, that you shall surely perish. You shall not live long in the land that you are going over the Jordan to enter and possess. (Deuteronomy 30:17-18)

Do Not Add to the Law Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. (2 John 1:9)

I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book:if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book. (Revelation 22:18-19, ESV)

Do Not Relax the Law Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 5:19)

Disobedience Demonstrates Rebellion towards God“Take care lest you forget the Lord your God by not keeping his commandments and his rules and his statutes, which I command you today, (Deuteronomy 8:11)

Obedience…

...Demonstrates Love towards God“You shall therefore love the Lord your God and keep his charge, his statutes, his rules, and his commandments always.(Deuteronomy 11:1)

...Must be Wholehearted “This day the Lord your God commands you to do these statutes and rules. You shall therefore be careful to do them with all your heart and with all your soul. (Deuteronomy 26:16)

...Shows God is your LordYou have declared today that the Lord is your God, and that you will walk in his ways, and keep his statutes and his commandments and his rules, and will obey his voice. (Deuteronomy 26:17)
